Loganair announce senior appointment

Loganair – which is currently under scrutiny over punctuality and reliability issues – has announced the appointment of an industry veteran as a new operations director.

The airline says that Edinburgh-born Maurice Boyle is an experienced manager with 35 years of commercial aviation experience – the last 10 years at board level, including accountable manager roles.

His past jobs include being general manager of DHL Aviation Middle East and managing director of Thomsonfly. Early in his career, he worked for Dan-Air, based in Aberdeen.

Mr Boyle said: “I’m excited at being back home, working for the only airline headquartered in Scotland. I’m proud to join the team that chief executive Stewart Adams has assembled and know that we can restore Loganair’s punctuality performance and passenger confidence.”

Loganair chief executive Stewart Adams said: “Maurice is an extremely experienced individual who has held senior positions in a number of airlines as well as working overseas for the like of DHL Aviation and Etihad.

“Maurice has returned to live in his native Edinburgh and takes over the role from Lorna Bruce who kindly agreed to join us on a temporary basis in the summer. Lorna will remain with us for a few more months to complete Project OPTIMA, but will now work closely with the engineering department where she will concentrate on manpower and training requirements.

“With Maurice in post, the director operations role is now a permanent position and will be responsible for achieving our operational performance targets by working closely with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure they provide the level of service we need to achieve acceptable levels of punctuality and reliability.”
