Marine energy park can help exploit renewables potential, says McArthur
The creation of Scotland’s first marine energy park in the Pentland Firth and Orkney waters has been welcomed by Orkney MSP Liam McArthur.
He said: “Orkney is rightly proud of the leadership role it has played in the development of wave and tidal energy over recent years. These are technologies where we have a global competitive edge and where significant economic, social as well as environmental benefits can be achieved.
“The creation of Scotland’s first marine energy park in the Pentland Firth and Orkney waters is welcome recognition of the part our communities will play in this exciting renewables revolution.
“Collaborative efforts will be required if we are to capitalize on the advantages we have in terms of natural resources, skills, and commercial expertise. The marine energy park provides a framework for allowing that collaboration to take place.”
