‘Milestone’ for new hospital and healthcare facility

The next stage has been reached in the development of the new Balfour Hospital and healthcare facilities in Kirkwall with conformation today, Thursday, that the two bidders going forward to the next stage of the project procurement are Robertson and the Canmore Partnership.

Cathie Cowan, NHS Orkney chief executive, said: “Today we have achieved another very important milestone in the procurement and delivery of a new hospital and healthcare facilities in Orkney.”

The announcement by NHS Orkney follows three rounds of intensive dialogue between the board’s project team and three potential bidders.

Further discussions will now take place with Robertson and the Canmore Partnership, with the preferred developer due to be announced in October.
