MSP disappointed at Ofgem report
Following the release of Ofgem’s Project TransmiT report into transmission charging last week, Orkney MSP Liam McArthur has expressed his frustration with the findings.
He said many people in the Northern Isles had hoped the report would seriously consider the negative impact excessive transmission charges are having on the renewables industry in the islands, and the barrier they represent to further growth and investment.
Mr McArthur added: “Ofgem’s final report is deeply disappointing. Despite compelling arguments and detailed proposals for a change in the charging regime for island-based developments, Ofgem has failed to address this serious shortcoming.
“It has been clear for some time that the current transmission charging regime is a key obstacle to potential future investment in new renewables developments in the islands.”
