Musical provision report to be launched on Saturday
A report which details the current musical provision for under 25s in Orkney has been produced by the Orkney Youth Music Forum (OYMF).
OYMF, which was established in 2009, received development funding through Creative Scotland in 2010 to provide a report on music provision in Orkney and to produce a research document for consultation with all key providers in Orkney.
Gemma McGregor, freelance co-ordinator for OYMF, one of the 18 music forums that form a network funded by Creative Scotland, has been compiling this report since March.
The report lists the opportunities for music making and learning for under 25s in Orkney in all genres and identifies gaps in current provision.
According to OYMF, the report could potentially assist with the distribution of future funding to groups and activities and thereby support new initiatives and inclusive practice.
Orkney Youth Music Forum will launch the report at a public meeting with refreshments and live music by Girl Band and The Magic Flutes on Saturday, December 17, at King Street Halls from 4-5pm.
