Ness of Brodgar book launched tonight
The first book to tell the story of the Ness of Brodgar excavation site – from its discovery, in 2003, to the end of the 2014 excavation season – will be officially launched in Kirkwall tonight, Wednesday.
The Ness of Brodgar, by Roy Towers, Nick Card and Mark Edmonds, covers all aspects of the Neolithic site – its discovery, its place in the landscape, the buildings, artefacts, artwork and the excavation so far.
Designed and written by the archaeologists and experts who know the site best, the book was funded by the American Friends of the Ness of Brodgar and will be launched with a booksigning at the Orkney Theatre, Kirkwall, at 7pm.
The launch will be followed by a talk from site director Nick Card, entitled Winding the clock back: Dating the Ness of Brodgar.
All money raised from the sales of the book go to the Ness of Brodgar excavation fund.
