New chairman of Orkney Alcohol and Drugs Partnership
Rev Don Currie is to take over as the new chairman of the Orkney Alcohol and Drugs Partnership.
Rev Currie, representing the churches of Orkney, was voted in by his colleagues as chairman for the next two years. He takes over from retired councillor, Roderick McLeod, who has been in the role since April, 2011.
Rev Currie said: “I am delighted to take on the role of ADP chair. Like lots of folk I enjoy a social drink. However, along with many others, I’m concerned about the negative impact of substance misuse.
“Over the years, I have been involved in the pastoral support of people whose lives have been blighted by the consequences of drug and alcohol abuse. This has led me to having an interest in this area and has contributed to my involvement with the OADP.”
