New lease of life for Kirkwall BID?
A new board of the Kirkwall Business Improvement District (BID) has been formed.
At a meeting held in Kirkwall Town Hall earlier this week evening a majority of BID levy payers voted to revive the project with enough volunteers also coming forward to meet the quorum needed to form a new board.
The new board will meet on Tuesday to see if they can find a chairman and create a plan for the future of the BID.
launched in 2013, the BID’s aim was to give Kirkwall town centre businesses an opportunity to influence developments that would bring new life to the area as well as increasing footfall in the town and delivering a strong trading environment to support employment.
However, doubt was cast on its future in April, 2014, after all but one of the board directors tendered their resignation.
