Nominations invited for local Youth Awards
Nominations are now being invited from across the county for this year’s Orkney Youth Awards.
The achievements of Orkney’s young people will then be recognised at the annual awards ceremony on Tuesday November 17 at the King Street Halls, Kirkwall. The awards, now in their fourth year, are organised by the Orkney Youth Workers’ Forum, which is made up of workers from a wide range of local organisations.
Orkney MSP Liam McArthur will be at the ceremony to present a range of awards to young people, including Saltire Awards for volunteering, Dynamic Youth and Youth Achievement Awards.
Laura Leonard, Voluntary Action Orkney’s Youth Development Worker, said: “We’d like to ask people to nominate a young person they know who they feel should be recognised for their achievements and contribution to the community, for instance where they have gone above and beyond and showed initiative and enthusiasm.
“Nominations could cover a whole range of areas – including being a role model for other young people, caring, the arts, intergenerational activities, or sports – the list is endless, as we know that young people in Orkney are involved in all sorts of things within our community.”
