Northern Isles parliamentarians back student petition

Liam McArthur MSP, Tavish Scott MSP and Alistair Carmichael MP are urging the Northern Isles to support a student-led campaign for fairer travel payments.

Recent Scottish Government changes to the student travel rules mean that the cost of travel is to be carried by an increased student loan, not payments for actual travel costs.

The Northern Isles Parliamentarians are arguing that the Scottish Government decision penalises island students for living a greater distance from their university.
