Norton takes the top spots in the Dounby cattle section
The sun was shining for the announcement of the overall cattle champion at today’s Dounby Show, despite a rainy start to the competition.
Just before 3pm it was a two-and-a-half-year-old, Charolais heifer in-calf, from Messrs Spence, Norton, Dounby BBE that took the overall cattle prize.
The heifer is out of Lowerrfryd Ben Hur and from a heifer bought from Robert Aitken.
The overall reserve for the was an October-born steer calf that had taken the Cross-bred Coloured section earlier in the day
The calf was also owned by Merrs Spence, making it a double win for Messrs Spence of Norton
The steer calf, called ‘Dave Darling Money Supermarket’, was sired by Goliath Carrourreagh and it was  out of a Belgian Blue-cross heifer.
Allan Spence said it was “a dream come true” to have won both titles
