OIC to offer education services on Flotta

Orkney Islands Council is to make provisions to allow for education services to be available to families on Flotta.

The local authority plans to implement a supported home-schooling service, but will consider partially re-opening the school, if the number of children on Flotta increases.

The issue was before the OIC’s education, leisure and housing this morning, Wednesday, after two families, with young children, expressed interest in moving to Flotta.

The island’s primary school closed in August 2010 after the school roll dropped to zero.
