Old Scapa Road funeral home plans approved

Orkney Islands councillors have granted permission for a funeral home to be built at Fieldhouse, Old Scapa Road, Kirkwall, following an appeal by the applicant.

The decision was made by the members of the council’s planning review committee yesterday afternoon.

The application, by John Corse Funerals, to build a funeral home, access and car parking was refused by council-appointed officers in January, on the grounds that the plans would compromise future development of the area.

However, following a site visit last month, councillors opted to overturn the refusal at the yesterday’s meeting.
