Open exhibitions for Brims tidal project

SSE Renewables and OpenHydro are jointly developing the Brims Tidal Array located to the south of Hoy.

The project, formerly known as Cantick Head, will be developed in two phases and will have a potential installed generation capacity of up to 200MW.

Those behind the project are holding two public exhibitions in Orkney, today and tomorrow, and say they would very much like members of the public and other interested parties to come along and find out more about the proposals. Members of the project team will be on hand at each event to discuss the project.

It is anticipated that the planning consent and marine licence applications for the first phase of the project will be submitted by the end of 2014. Comments received at the public exhibitions will help inform the development process prior to entering the formal application process.

The events are being held today, Wednesday, 3pm – 8pm at the North Walls School, and tomorrow, Thursday, between 5pm – 8pm in Stromness Community Centre.
