Orkney beers showcased in Japan

Beers from the Orkney Brewery are this week being showcased at a major international food and drink event in Japan.

Foodex is the largest event of its kind in Asia, attracting almost 3,000 exhibitors from 82 countries and regions, along with over 75,000 food and drink buyers. The show, held in the Makuhari Messe convention centre, Chiba, runs between March 4-7.

Norman Sinclair, managing director of the Orkney Brewery’s parent company, Sinclair Breweries Ltd, is attending the event.

He said: “We’re delighted to be taking part in what is a hugely important show for the Asian food and drink market. This is the first time the Orkney Brewery has had a presence at a trade event in Japan and we’re really excited about the opportunities it will create.

“The event is considered to be the hub of the food and drink market in Asia, so the potential for opening up new avenues for our range is absolutely enormous.”

He added: “We’ve already had quite a bit of interest in our beers from throughout Asia, so it’ll be good to meet existing and new customers face to face. We’ll also be doing our bit to promote Orkney as a destination!”
