Orkney chairs bound for London design exhibition
Three Orkney chairs are heading to London to be part of the internationally acclaimed designjunction exhibition.
The chairs, made by Jackie Miller, of Scapa Crafts, were designed by the award-winning British designer, Simon Pengelly.
Simon became interested in the tradition of Orkney Chairs after seeing a display of David Kirkness chairs in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Regarding the new design, Jackie Miller commented: “It’s quite different to the traditional Orkney Chair and yet it’s related, a bit like a long-lost cousin!”
