Orkney FC due to begin defence of Ness Cup
Orkney FC are hoping to play their first game since Saturday, January 23 with the side due to travel to Alness to defend the Ness Cup.
Postponements have hit the islanders hard in their quest for games so far this year but they will be confident that Saturday’s game will go ahead with decent weather being forecasted. Orkney FC won the Ness Cup last season — a historic first piece of silverware for the club — and they will be desperate to not let their defence fall at the first hurdle against North Caledonian League bottom side Alness United.
Orkney have faced Alness twice so far this season with a 5-3 home victory in October being followed up by a 1-1 draw at the end of November.
The match is due to kick off at 1pm at Dalmore Park on Saturday afternoon.
