Orkney FC hit Alness for seven
Orkney FC claimed their first ever North Caledonian League win, in an impressive manner at the Pickaquoy Centre, earlier today. The Reds defeated Alness United 7-0, in front of a crowd of  around 150 spectators.
It was an assured display from the home side throughout, with Chris Hellewell scoring a brace inside 11 minutes, to provide an almost perfect start.
Orkney started equally as impressive in the second half. Graham Shearer scoring two and Aiden Drever striking from long range to give his side an unassailable lead, with 35 minutes still to play.
Hellewell completed his hat-trick just after the hour mark, when he headed in a Gareth Manson cross at the back post. In the process, he became the first player to score three goals in one game, for the club, something which he described after as “a great feeling.”
Drever added his name to the scoresheet again soon after, to complete the scoring, before he picked up the man of the match award.
