Orkney is the best place to raise children in the UK

Orkney has been named the best place in the UK to raise children.

According to the 2015 Bank of Scotland Children’s Quality of Life Survey, Orkney took the top spot based on low primary school class size, high school spending per pupil and the fact youngsters live in an area of low population density and little traffic.

According to the survey results, Orkney children are also likely to be surrounded by adults who are in employment and who rate their own personal well-being as very high.

Shetland came second in the survey, followed by the Western Isles.
