Orkney RFC back to winning ways
Orkney edged a 17-16 victory over league rivals Strathmore at Pickaquoy this afternoon.
Most of the points came in the first half with Orkney scoring tries from Marcus Guthrie and David Ross as the lead changed hands several times.
The home side went in 17-11 up at half time with the only score in the second half coming from the visitors to take them within a point at 17-16.
As the half went on Orkney spent long spells in the Strathmore 22 as they looked to put the result beyond doubt, but failed to capitalise.
They were not helped by the referee as a clear Scott Rendall try was chalked off after 60 minutes.
Despite this Orkney held on for a deserved victory, albeit by the narrowest of margins.
