Parishes go head to head today in home produce competition

A county-wide home produce competition comes to a conclusion in Kirkwall today.

Organised by Orkney Food and Drink, Homemade in the Parish has seen teams from across the county  submit products across a wide range of categories — everything from jams, chutneys, shortbreads and cakes, to home brew, cheeses and savoury pies.

A team of judges will sample the parish team produce today before deciding on category winners.

The event takes place in Kirkwall Grammar School, with judging beginning at 9am. The doors open to the public, who can sample the parish entries, from 12.30pm.
