Perfect conditions for 25th Hoy Half Marathon
The 25th Hoy Half Marathon was run in “perfect conditions” on Sunday, and has been hailed a success by organisers.
Jack Trevelyan was the overall champion, completing the course in one hour, 20 minutes, while Lorna Leslie was the fastest lady, recording a time of one hour, 42 minutes. Paul Kerr won the quarter marathon, setting a new record of 42 minutes, 43 seconds.
With more than 150 runners competing, that the 2011 Hoy Half Marathon was the biggest to date and the organisers said that, despite a few logistical problems, the event ran smoothly on the day.
To celebrate 25 years of the race, each finisher was presented with a commemorative medal, and a number of other presentations also took place.
