Police ask farmers to check their roadside fences
Police in Orkney are asking farmers and landowners to make sure their fences are secure after several recent instances of livestock on roads in the county.
A spokesman said: “We’ve received a few reports, in the last week or so, of cattle or sheep getting out on to roads and would like to remind farmers to make sure their fences, particularly next to roads, are in tact.
“Thankfully there haven’t been any accidents as a result of animals on the roads, but as the nights draw in and the weather gets worse we would ask farmers to check their fences, and for drivers to remain vigilant.”
