Postal vote packs due this week
Postal voting packs for the UK Parliamentary Election will start arriving through Orkney letterboxes from today, Monday.
For this election, packs will contain three items; a ballot paper, a return envelope and a postal voting statement, which is attached to a ballot paper envelope.
Anyone can apply for a postal vote with 5pm on Tuesday set as the deadline for applying. Contact the Electoral Registration Office on 01856 876222 or drop into their offices on 8 Broad Street, Kirkwall or email ero@orkney.gov.uk
The UK Parliamentary General Election takes place on May 7, with polling stations open across Orkney between 7am and 10pm. Postal votes should reach the Council Offices no later than 10pm on May 7.
Postal votes can also be handed into polling stations and the Council Offices at School Place on May 7 before 10pm
