Power outage in East Mainland
A number of homes in the East Mainland were left without electricity for a time last night, after an electricity pole caught fire.
According to Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), 374 of their customers suffered from a blackout at around 7pm, with the vast majority being reconnected within approximately 14 minutes.
Around 19 customers to the south of St Andrews school were left without power until shortly before 11pm.
A SSEN spokesman said the fire which caused the problems is thought to have been caused by a lightning strike.
