Visitor numbers to the Orkney Wireless Museum, in Kirkwall, reached a new high this summer, with over 2,000 paying visitors coming through the door.

Founded in St Margaret’s Hope, by the late Jim MacDonald, the museum moved to its present premises in Kirkwall in 1997.

Staffed by unpaid volunteers and enthusiasts, the museum houses a collection of domestic and military wireless equipment and associated paraphernalia, such as radio sets, advertising and photographs.
