Remanded in custody

A 29-year-old man has been remanded in custody after admitting sexual offences.

Steven Dobbs, who appeared at Kirkwall Sheriff Court this morning, previously had his sentence deferred for reports after he pleaded guilty to sexual offences against girl under the age of 16, and sending a woman messages of a sexual nature via a social networking site.

Sheriff Andrew Berry deferred sentence again, until June 2, to “reflect on all of the issues in the case”.

The sheriff added that because a custodial sentence was “inevitable” the accused would be remanded until that time.
