Riding centre grant approved

An application for money to upgrade the riding centre, at the Market Stance, St Ola, was approved by the OIC’s Community Development Fund sub-committee on Tuesday.

Funds were being sought for upgrading the riding areas and facilities at the centre, including the indoor and outdoor arenas, which would come in at an estimated cost of £81,730.

Members agreed that a grant of 47.9 per cent of the total project costs, up to a maximum sum of £38,365, should be approved, but asked that Orkney Riding Centre Ltd seek financial advice from the Business Gateway to maximise their future sustainability.
