Sanday Sealcam is back online

Sanday’s online “sealcam” has returned in time for the autumn seal-breeding season.

The online webcam was set up by the island’s development trust in 2012, overlooking two small beaches where grey seals regularly breed in the autumn. This year it is hoped it will broadcast until the end of November.

The camera will run 24 hours a day, with an infrared camera delivering a wide-angle shot fixed on one beach during the night.
