Scanner delayed again

NHS Orkney has confirmed the date to have a CT scanner up and running in the county has, once more, been pushed back.

Speaking today at NHS Orkney’s Annual Review, chief executive Cathie Cowan said the earliest the scanner would be in place would be early 2015.

The project was first announced by NHS Orkney in 2012, when it was hoped the new scanning service would be ready by spring 2013.

Today, Ms Cowan again apologised for the delay but was confident that the resulting service would be the very best it could be for Orkney patients.
