School meals going up by ten pence

Orkney Islands Council has advised that a ten pence increase in the price of school meals in the county will come into effect next week.

From Tuesday, April 18, a two-course school meal will cost £2.20 for primary pupils and £2.30 for secondary pupils.

This, says the authority, is in line with a council decision, taken when setting the budget for 2017-18, that existing fees and charges for most OIC services should increase by at least three per cent from April 2017.
