Science Festival launches online magazine
Orkney International Science Festival has received a boost for this year’s marketing with an award of £11,000 from EventScotland — and one of the outcomes is a new online magazine launched today.
The new online magazine — entitled FRONTIERS — has a varied mix of topics from the festival and around Orkney and a wealth of photographs and artwork.
Subjects include John Rae and Arctic exploration, new insights into archaeoastronomy at Brodgar, the last of the Great Auks, the story of Loganair and the Islander aircraft, and stories and pictures from several of the islands. There is a mystery from Italy, medical developments from the study of sea creatures, new ideas about the nature of time – and advice on how to teach quantum physics to your dog.
The multimedia format of the new magazine features videos and music, as well as many images of Orkney.
The funding from EventScotland will also enable the festival to redevelop its website and take up advertising opportunities in several tourism promotions.
