Sixty-two per cent turnout for election

Over sixty per cent of Orkney’s voters turned out for today’s election.

The percentage poll is 62.13 per cent, with 10,561 votes cast out of a possible 16,997 voters.

This is considerably up on 2011, when the turnout was 49.9 per cent.
