South Isles ferry service cancelled

The South Isles ferry service has been cancelled this morning after the ferry Thorsvoe developed a steering problem.

The Thorsvoe is currently standing in on the Houton, Lyness, Flotta, service while the usual ferry Hoy Head is away south undergoing repairs.This was after the vessel was damaged while attempting to berth at Flotta Pier on December 8.

A council spokesman said: “The Thorsvoe has developed a steering issue today. The engineers are currently investigating the problem. We’ll provide a further update on the issue and potential repair times once we know more.”
