Stormy forecast hits transport again
Travel and transport are being disrupted by the weather again today, with storm force winds expected later today.
On the Pentland Firth, the mv Hamnavoe was due to arrive in Stromness at 10.15am this morning, with the 4.45pm sailing from Stromness and the 7pm sailing from Scrabster have been cancelled.
Pentland Ferries’ 7.45am and 9.30am crossings went ahead, but the 11.50am, 1.30pm, 4.50pm and 6.30pm sailings are all cancelled.
On the internal routes, Orkney Ferries has cancelled all afternoon sailings to Westray, Papa Westray, Sanday, Stronsay and Eday.
All sailings to Shapinsay, Graemsay and North Hoy have been cancelled, while the last sailing from Houton was due to leave at 10.15am.
For Rousay folk, the last ferry will be departing Tingwall at 4.05pm, but passengers are warned that sailings will be reviewed throughout the day and could stop running at short notice.
