Stromness Academy pupils secure £3,000 grant for MS Orkney

As part of the Youth Philanthropy Initiative, three Stromness Academy teams competed for £3,000 prize money, for their chosen charity, this week.

The pupils had to give a presentation on their chosen charity to a panel of judges.

The three charities represented were Friends of the Neuro Ward ARI, MS Orkney and Advocacy Orkney. Following the presentations, the judging panel declared MS Orkney as the winners.

The pupils representing MS Orkney were Erin Harcus, Erika Hutchison, Jenny McElroy and Eilidh Warnock.

The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is an active citizenship programme that raises awareness amongst young people about philanthropy and their local community. Each participating school, each year is responsible for directing a £3,000 YPI grant to a local charity through a programme of team work, research and competition.
