Stromness care home plans get the go ahead
Plans for a new 40-bed care home at Garson, Stromness, were given the green light by the OIC’s planning committee today.
Councillors were generally supportive of the application, although there were questions regarding emergency vehicle access and future extension of the building.
Scottish Natural Heritage had also expressed concerns about the new care home having “adverse effects on the Hoy and West Mainland National Scenic Area.”
Stromness and South Isles councillor James Stockan said the project had “strong public support” and praised the engagement exercise during the development of the care home plans.
The application was unanimously approved by the members of the committee.
