Stromness Lifeboat called out

Stromness Lifeboat was called out in the early hours of this morning to rescue a creel boat which required assistance in Hoy Sound.

The Marlena, with two crew on board, had suffered from engine failure. According to the RNLI when the lifeboat arrived on scene, the vessel was close to the Kirk Rocks, and was being swept in on the last of the flood tide. Conditions were misty with a light south-easterly wind.

A tow rope was passed to the vessel and the creel boat was towed into Stromness, arriving at 1.15am.
