Terrific second half display from ORFC just falls short
A rousing second half display was not enough from Orkney RFC as they lost their opening league game against Perthshire RFC 31-28.
With kick off at 11:30am, Orkney’s first 40 minutes of their BT National League Division 3 campaign didn’t go according to plan as a dominant Perthshire side went into half time 17-0 ahead.
However, ORFC rallied and tries from William Thomson, Scott Russell, David Hamilton and captain, Alan Brown ensured a nervy end for Perthshire with Orkney desperately unlucky not to come away with the win.
Despite losing their opening game, Orkney have still secured their first points of the season – two points for scoring four tries and one point for being within seven points.
Orkney’s next game is at home against Dalziel on September, 5.
