The Gathering in Glasgow

Orkney’s musical talent will be highlighted at Celtic Connections tonight, Saturday, with a performance from The Gathering — a cross-generational group of some of the county’s most gifted musicians.

The performance, at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow, showcases the distinct musical heritage and styles of playing which have evolved in Orkney over the years.

This will be the Scottish mainland debut for The Gathering, comprising some of Orkney’s most well-known and well-respected musicians.

The project was born out of the 2011 Orkney Folk Festival where the performers were given a standing ovation in the Stromness Town Hall.
