Thorfinn set to celebrate 125 years of history against Aberdeen FC side
Orkney’s oldest football club is set to celebrate 125 years of history tonight, with a friendly match against some of Scottish football’s brightest young talents.
Kirkwall Thorfinn Football Club are set to welcome Aberdeen Football Club’s Under-20s side to the county as part of the club’s 125th-anniversary celebrations.
The match, due to kick-off at 6.30pm at the Pickaquoy Centre pitch, comes 25 years after an Aberdeen side played Thorfinn as part of the club’s 100 celebrations.
In addition to the match, Under-20 boss Paul Sheerin will hold a coaching session at the Pickaquoy outfield pitches on Monday afternoon. The session with Thorfinn’s youngsters will provide some of the club’s own brightest young hopes with the opportunity to learn from the ex-Dons and Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder.
