Towage dispute is over

Orkney Towage has confirmed that an agreement has been reached which settles the industrial dispute between the company and the crews who work aboard the tugs.

The agreement follows a long period of discussion which concluded with some “very constructive negotiations” last week between representatives of the company and the crews.

Councillor Jim Foubister, chairman of the board of Orkney Towage, said:   “I very much welcome the ending of this industrial action and look forward to a strong and effective working relationship with the crews.

“This sends a clear message that our tugs are ready and available for new and existing business opportunities, both in Orkney and further afield.”
