Town centre BID update at Picky centre

The proposed Kirkwall Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) – Connect with Kirkwall — which the Kirkwall Town Centre Partnership has been working on establishing since August 2009 — will be going to ballot in the spring.

The BID is a formal mechanism, which allows non-domestic ratepayers to improve their commercial potential by collectively voting for and funding additional projects and services within central Kirkwall.

If successful, the Kirkwall Town Centre Partnership will be handing over responsibility for the running of the projects. This involves the formation of a limited company and to explain how this will work, Ian Davison Porter, along with Wendy Reid, from Development Trust Association of Scotland, will be at the Lochans Room, Pickaquoy Centre, tonight at 7.15pm.
