Two book signings at The Orcadian Bookshop
The Orcadian Bookshop will host two book-signings today, Saturday.
Prize-winning wildlife photographer and film-maker Raymond Besant will be signing copies of his new book, Naturally Orkney, from 3.30pm until 4.30pm.
The book takes a close look at Orkney’s plants and wildlife through photographs which portray the county as “a unique place, with an unparalleled diversity of wildlife.”
Raymond has worked on productions for the BBC Natural History Unit such as Springwatch, The Springwatch Guide to Seabirds, Natural World and The Great British Year. He is currently making films for the RSPB’s Enjoy Wild Orkney project, and working on Highlands — Scotland’s Wild Heart for BBC Scotland.
But first, Orkney-born military and naval historian, Angus Konstam, will be signing copies of his latest book, Bannockburn, Scotland’s Greatest Battle For Independence, at 11am.
The battle, which occurred on June 23, 1314, is arguably the most seminal event in Scottish history, and one of the least understood, according to the author.
