Walk down memory lane at Kirkwall Grammar School
With the demolition of the “old” KGS building due to start next year, an exhibition of photographs to commemorate the last 40 years of the school takes place this weekend.
For several months, the KGS staff have been appealing for photos, memorabilia and memories, which they have pulled together to marking the end of the old school and the move to the new.
The “opening ceremony”, at 11am today, will give the community the chance to meet past headmasters as well as the current headmistress, Mrs Sheila Dick.
Mr William Thomson, Mr Eric Sinclair, Dr John Ireland and Mr Iain Ballantyne will all be in attendance to take a final look at the school before it packs away its books and moves next door into the custom-built new school.
The exhibition will be open from 11am till 4pm today and 11am to 3pm tomorrow, Sunday.
