Water supply problems on Sanday

Scottish Water has said they are continuing to manage the water supply problems in Sanday.

The recent stormy weather stirred up a higher than normal level of silt in Bea Loch, which supplies water to the island’s houses, causing problems for the water treatment plant on the island.

Scottish Water said this morning: “Staff are continuing to manage the operation of the water treatment works which has been affected by severe weather.

“Over the weekend Scottish Water has been supplementing supplies with tankers of water to ensure customers supply and quality is not disrupted as the works continue.

“The position is being constantly monitored and customers are being advised to assist with the measures by continuing to use their water supply as normal. Any customers with a concern should call 0800 0778 778.”
