Westray Connections
Residents and visitors to Westray are preparing for a weekend of music and fun as this year’s Westray Connections music festival gets underway today.
Over the weekend, festival goers can see performances from Andy Cant and Billy Jolly, The Jo Philby Band, Jock P, Alice Tait and Friends, Gnoss, Maggie and James Nicolson, Genuine Draft, Gemma Harcus and Craig Rendall, Jake and Co., Duncan Hill and the Kirkwall City Pipe Band, The Harcus Family, No Soond and the Driftwood Cowboys.
Tonight will see an informal gathering of both local and visiting musicians in the Pierowall Hotel for a lively evening of song and tunes. Tomorrow starts with the ‘Westray Jam Sessions’ which will take place at various locations during the morning and afternoon. Saturday evening’s event will be a musical feast with a variety of bands and musicians entertaining till late. The finale on Sunday is an open air event with plenty of great music, food and fresh air.
