Amended Work Farm turbine proposal gets the go ahead

Planning permission has been granted for two Enercon E44 900kW wind turbines at Work Farm, St Ola.

The two 67-metre-high turbines will both have to be fitted with red aviation warning lights for aircraft safety.

The application, before the OIC’s planning committee on Wednesday, supersedes previous permission granted to erect two Windflow 500kW machines, of 46 metres in height, on the same site.

The new permission also grants a switchgear building and an access track to be created.
