Young farmers to show over-wintered cattle

Orkney’s Young Farmers are to hold their over-wintering competition at Orkney Auction Mart tomorrow evening.

The competition sees animals bought between August and October, the year ahead of the show, with prizes given for the best animal, as chosen by a judge, as well as prizes for weight gain and price difference, from buying to selling.

The show will take place tomorrow from 6pm with the cattle to be sold at a special sale of store cattle at the mart beginning at 10.30am, the following Monday morning.
