New head teacher for KGS
A new head teacher has been appointed at Kirkwall Grammar School.
Don Hawkins, currently depute head at Fraserburgh Academy in Aberdeenshire, is expected to start this summer.
Mr Hawkins said: “I am looking forward to leading KGS on a journey to greatness.
“I am further delighted to be joining the community in Orkney and am looking forward to working closely in partnership with all pupils, parents, staff and stakeholders.
“From a personal point of view, it has been a long standing ambition for me and my wife Alison to live and work in Orkney and to my delight the recent opportunity of the head teacher post at KGS offered us the realisation of this ambition.
“I am a great believer that ‘actions speak a lot louder than words’. So I am looking to building on the already great work carried out at KGS and the successes that the school has already achieved.”
